The Real Ghosts of Christmas Past

December 21st 2011 21:11

Ghosts don't take a winter break from making their presence known, in fact it is around Christmas time and other well known family gatherings that they seem to enjoy showing up.

There are personal reports all over the internet of Christmas lights that light up when not plugged in, a sighting of a deceased relative that simply smiles or shows the person witnessing the event that all is well.

Christmas time is sometimes remembered as a time of a past tragedy in families and it is in those times that a spirit might show up to comfort those they have left behind. This also might occur long after their own relatives have left the area where they appear.

For further reading on the subject of personal experiences at Christmas time with ghosts click here where you can read many events related by the people who experienced them at Christmas time.

Haunted Albany Oregon

September 21st 2011 20:50
Inside movie theater

Located south of the capital of Oregon, Albany has a few haunted tales to tell. I had no idea that the place had its fair share of hauntings in public places. There were two of them that I found interesting. Both of them interested me since I have visited both places.

First up is the site of the Albany Cinemas. They are part of the Regal Cinema chain and I go there often to see movies. The place is suppose to be haunted. According to the story, in the late 1970's a farmhouse next door to the theater complex was torn down to expand the cinema building. The two screens that were added are reported to be haunted. There is suppose to be a ghost of a small dog seen in the aisles and of lights moving across the floor. I don't remember experiencing anything odd when I go there but heck, in the dark and enjoying a good movie I would be hard pressed to be distracted. I'll ask the people who work there if they have heard of the ghost dog the next time I go to the movies.

Next is the Hereford Steer Restaurant. That place was reported to be haunted by the dead owner of the restaurant. He was reportedly shot by police. The story goes on to report that the former owner liked to play pranks on the people visiting the restaurant. But here is the problem, the story is a fake. The owner of the Hereford Steer Restaurant died in April 2011. He opened the restaurant in or around 1976 and it closed in 1997. The restaurant was torn down by the property owner in 2002 - it is still a vacant lot. I could find no local stories to back up the claims of the haunting.

So here is a lesson for all you would be investigators out there - don't believe everything you read online and if you do find something interesting try to find out the real truth.

The ghosts of ground zero - NYC

September 10th 2011 22:47
After the collapse

The 10th anniversary of the collapse of the Twin Towers in NYC is on Sept 11, 2011. That brings up an interesting thought. With such a huge loss of human life, is ground zero haunted?

New York City is always on the go that maybe ghosts in the area would not be noticed, or would appear to look like a live person. There are countless testimonies all over the internet recounting the feelings of despair and sadness that overcomes a person when visiting ground zero. Whether it is due to a person's own thoughts and the knowledge of the past events or if it is due to picking up of the emotions of spirits, I have no idea. What I did find were various accounts of actual experiences with ghosts at ground zero.

Rather than me recount the events I have put links to them so that you can read about them at your leisure.

Fireman ghost - 2006

This next link is to a general article about haunted New York City but the comments are the interesting part. Haunted New York

Most of the message boards about the subject have indicated that the number of sightings would increase if a building was to be erected over the mass grave. After all, ground zero is a cemetery now.

Heather O'Rourke was the young actress that played the girl, Carol Ann, in all 3 of the Poltergeist movies. She died tragically at the age of 12 from a blocked small intestine that went misdiagnosed. During her short lifetime she appeared in numerous TV shows, commercials and other movies

I had something happen to me just a few days ago. I was shopping at a local feed/hardware store and had a ghostly encounter. The store is modern well lit building about the size of a supermarket. The aisles are laid out like a Walmart with plenty of room to maneuver a shopping cart.

The feed store encourages dog owners to bring their dogs into the store to shop for dog supplies. The store does not have any resident pets such as a cat wandering the store to get friendly with the customers. I often encounter dog owners that bring their dogs into the store so it is a normal occurrence

I love a good ghost story

October 15th 2010 21:22

Just because I try and look at paranormal events with a scientific approach does not mean I don't love a good ghost story. Add a splash of real history to the story and you have gotten me hooked

Close to the casinos in Atlantic City is located the Absecon Lighthouse. The video below shows the owners before they called in the Ghost Hunters from the SyFy channel. They talk about sighting a creature they call the "Jersey Devil", a flying creature that is well known by the locals, that landed on the top of the lighthouse and someone tried to shoot it. You can go to the Ghost Hunters website to find out more about the investigation on the lighthouse, but check out the video first.

Molly Brown
Molly Brown

The famous Molly Brown of the early 1900's, who was made famous by surviving the sinking of the Titanic, maybe still lurking around her old home in Denver, Colorado. Her real name is Margaret Tobin Brown and she was a socialite in her day. She traveled the world and was very well known in wealthy circles. She was also known as being very flamboyant, which was not typical of the women of her day. Apparently after her death in 1932 she still has a flare for showing up.

blood ritual

Am am sitting here and watching "Extreme Paranormal" on A&E. Normally the show does the regular paranormal investigating but as of late they are getting more bizarre in "provoking the spirits" as they put it. The latest is detailing and showing how to perform a "blood ritual" to get the spirits to react to them. So now they are showing low grade witchcraft to summon the dead! On the show prior to that one, they buried a member of the team in a coffin and then left him while the rest of the team wandered around in the woods
