Heaven is scary to some people

July 31st 2011 04:45

Each culture has their own ideas about the hereafter. Religion plays a major role in developing those ideas. Even within some religions there are variations of what heaven is thought to be. Heaven in Christianity and the Jewish faith is the ideal of the place where "good" people go after they die.

Heaven in the most commonly rendered story is that after you die you will be reunited with your family. It is this rendition that is scary to some people. Take for example those who are abused by their family or beaten by their spouses. The thought that they would see them again after they die would scare the wits out of some people.

The reason I brought up that thought is possibly one reason why people will not leave after they have died. Maybe they are too afraid to move on. The thought that they will once again be subjected to abuse in some form can be far reaching for them.
