Exploring the Paranormal - where the unusual is the normal

Join me while I explore the paranormal from the world of ghosts to parallel dimensions. A journey you will not want to take on your own.
Ghost Hunters - USA TV series on SyFy

There are at least 5 major "ghost hunting" TV shows on TV and cable at any single time of the day nowadays. Of those shows, not one has come up with any real evidence. Sure there are a few shadows that could be something or something was seen moving but who is to say that they weren't the result of skillful film editing.

The shows, while they did have an interesting start a few years ago, have diminished into a flurry of "did you hear that?" and "I just felt something touch me." In both cases I didn't hear anything and I sure couldn't feel it. The EVP (electronic voice phenomena) is poorly done as well. There are very few real voices in that static noise. Most of it you could make out the sound like anything you wanted to, and if they suggest what it might sound like you can then hear it.

Of course they continue to investigate in the pitch black. Come on, I am sick of them setting up the women in the show to scream.........give it a break. Turn on the F***ing lights and do a real investigation. Of course they never will because they can't. They don't have the right equipment or the expertise to do the job correctly. They are just a bunch of TV personalities that happen to like exploring haunted houses.

Umm, I wonder how much they get paid to do those shows?

Haunted Albany Oregon

September 21st 2011 20:50
Inside movie theater

Located south of the capital of Oregon, Albany has a few haunted tales to tell. I had no idea that the place had its fair share of hauntings in public places. There were two of them that I found interesting. Both of them interested me since I have visited both places.

First up is the site of the Albany Cinemas. They are part of the Regal Cinema chain and I go there often to see movies. The place is suppose to be haunted. According to the story, in the late 1970's a farmhouse next door to the theater complex was torn down to expand the cinema building. The two screens that were added are reported to be haunted. There is suppose to be a ghost of a small dog seen in the aisles and of lights moving across the floor. I don't remember experiencing anything odd when I go there but heck, in the dark and enjoying a good movie I would be hard pressed to be distracted. I'll ask the people who work there if they have heard of the ghost dog the next time I go to the movies.

Next is the Hereford Steer Restaurant. That place was reported to be haunted by the dead owner of the restaurant. He was reportedly shot by police. The story goes on to report that the former owner liked to play pranks on the people visiting the restaurant. But here is the problem, the story is a fake. The owner of the Hereford Steer Restaurant died in April 2011. He opened the restaurant in or around 1976 and it closed in 1997. The restaurant was torn down by the property owner in 2002 - it is still a vacant lot. I could find no local stories to back up the claims of the haunting.

So here is a lesson for all you would be investigators out there - don't believe everything you read online and if you do find something interesting try to find out the real truth.

I have always wondered why the major news agencies in the USA turn a blind eye to events that are being reported in other countries. For example, in Mexico and south America in the past 5 years there have been major sightings of UFO's over major cities. These UFO's were seen by thousands of people in broad daylight. There are numerous videos on YouTube from the news broadcasts that covered the events.

The sightings over Mexico City are world famous but very few people in the USA are even aware of the event. Another regularly happening event is the one near the southern end of New Zealand, where supposed UFO's have emerged from under the ocean in mass. The resulting waves have capsized several ships and boats in the area.

Then there is wikileaks, which has released several cables that have references of communications with alien lifeforms. Yes actual communications.

So I wonder why the people in the USA are kept in the dark about UFO events. Is it a choice of the media or is the government behind it? I for one now get most of my news from the BBC or other non-American news agencies.

There are many TV shows that have ruined the credibility of scientific research into the paranormal. The main one that comes to mind is "Most Haunted" a British based TV show that is suppose to "investigate" haunted locations. The show was canceled last year (2010) after 8 years on the air. The viewers finally figured out that most of it was faked, including the acting

Depending on the surrounding internet community, the subject of the Paranormal can come under several classifications. For example, at Orble, this blog is under the miscellaneous section and lumped in with religion. As a side note, other subjects under the miscellaneous section at Orble are history and education which is kinda odd to me, but oh well.

Other internet communities have listed the Paranormal under science, hobbies and nature. I would much prefer that it was listed under the science section as it is closer to science than religion

Time traveler caught on film

October 28th 2010 21:30
If you have been watching TV the last few days, you would have seen the film clip of the lady time traveler. Yes, it was on TV. So I went and found the footage that the TV news was all reporting. A fan of Charlie Chaplin movies watched and found an unexplained event in one of his movies. it appears to be a woman talking on something the size of a cell phone but wireless communications was not known to be that small in the 1920's, even though they did have it (commonly used on the battle fields) . As you watch the footage below take note that the woman does appear to be talking into the device and it is not a hearing aid as some people have claimed.

Why does the unknown = evil?

September 24th 2010 20:33
Why do some people and cultures put a label of "evil" on something that they do not understand or are fearful of? While we have all seen the effects of discrimination towards other cultures through time, even to the point of genocide, why does it spill over to the paranormal?

Hollywood has made millions on horror movies that enforce the belief that ghosts, UFO's and even medical advances are evil. Remember when Frankenstein's monster was the "evil" monster to grace the big screen of the 1940's and in reality it set the stage for future discrimination against transplants. Even as late as the 1990's there were movies based on people accepting transplanted organs and then becoming evil because of it. I know they are pure fantasy, but there are a group of people that really believe that. All you have to do is read some of the comments left on this blog to see idiots at work

Predictions or Coincidences?

September 10th 2010 02:35
The realm of psychic predictions can take the most unusual forms. Take for example the book called Futility, written in 1898 by Morgan Robertson. It is about a ship named "The Titan," an 800 foot long ship that was supposed to be unsinkable. In the story, the Titan strikes an ice berg after leaving England on its way to New York and sinks. There are not enough lifeboats on board for all the passengers and most of them die in the icy waters. In 1912, 14 years after the book was written, the Titanic makes that same voyage and we know what happened after it strikes an ice berg. So was that an odd prediction or the strangest coincidence you have ever heard? By the way, the Titanic measured 882 feet long.

Of course almost everyone is aware of the common bonds between the assassinations of both President Lincoln and Kennedy. If you don't here are a few highlights

The credibility of a person is always brought into question when that person reports an unusual event. In the past few posts I had videos in them that showed people being interviewed as the person or persons seeing ghosts or other phenomenon. What went through your minds as you watched them? Were they believable or did they come across as having a screw loose somewhere

The former Pennhurst State School and Hospital in Chester County PA has been the location of many recent TV paranormal investigations. All sorts of sounds and movements have been recorded on video and audio that remain unexplained. The state hospital had a notoriously violent history. Unspeakable surgeries were forced on mentally ill children. The living conditions were enough to bring anyone to tears, yet thousands of patients lived at this place most of their lives.

It was shut down about 20 years ago. Now the hospital faces an unusual future as a modern haunted house and a movie set. The video below shows why some people are not too fond of that idea. If you happen to catch a glimpse of Pennhurst on A&E like I did a month back, you would see how huge a property this place is

Close to the casinos in Atlantic City is located the Absecon Lighthouse. The video below shows the owners before they called in the Ghost Hunters from the SyFy channel. They talk about sighting a creature they call the "Jersey Devil", a flying creature that is well known by the locals, that landed on the top of the lighthouse and someone tried to shoot it. You can go to the Ghost Hunters website to find out more about the investigation on the lighthouse, but check out the video first.
